Oscar Muñiz-Luciano, DMD, MD

Dr. Oscar Muñiz-LucianoDr. Oscar Muñiz was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  He received his dental degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dentistry in 1994.  Four years later he received his Medical Doctor  degree from the Central del Caribe School of Medicine.  In 1998 Dr. Muñiz began his 5 year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the UT Southwestern-Parkland Memorial Hospital program in Dallas, considered by many to be the top OMFS program in the United States.

Dr. Muñiz was trained by world renowned surgeons Edward Ellis III, RV Walker, Douglas Sinn, John Paul Stella and Michael Zide.  Dr. Muñiz also did a one year General Surgery internship at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.  In 2004, Dr. Muñiz completed a Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship at the Willowbend Cosmetic Surgery Center, in plano, Texas.

Dr. Muñiz has been involved in research and publications.  In 2003 he coauthored the article “Treatment Considerations  for Comminuted Mandibular Fractures”, considered to be an important paper on the treatment algorithm of this kind of facial fractures.  He has been involved with teaching dental students the art of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has been a guest lecturer in Puerto Rico and the United States.

Dr. Muñiz is a fellow member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
